I have been designing and developing for the web for about 8 years, initially hand coding which gave me a solid grounding in HTML, Javascript and CSS before progressing onto the DTP style web software such as Golive Cyber Studio (or Adobe Golive as it is now called) and Macromedia Dreamweaver.
I soon began to look beyond mere static web pages and began working with Java applets to implement small online games, I was already a seasoned C/C++ programmer at this point and found Java a very easy language to learn but Java applets always seemed a little clunky in the web browser. Macromedia Shockwave ( the fore runner to the SWF Flash format) provided a much more suitable alternative and I began to develop rich online media using Director and Flash instead.
In more recent years (since about 2000) I have been working more extensively with database driven web sites using a variety of technologies including PERL and PHP connecting to relational Microsoft and MySQL databases directly and via ODBC. These projects have included online recruitment and content management systems, the former being implemented for the National Health Service.

A website promoting the Percy range of products (many of which I was responsible for the development) from Neptune Computer Technology. I was responsible for the design of the site as well as the MySQL and PHP driven product catalog. The site is however maintained in house by Neptune.
One of the largest suppliers of heavy duty portable work tents in the UK, this ongoing site shows off not only the products but the products at work in real live situations.
The job involved a complete restyling of an existing site before building further content to paint a broader picture of Fusion Shelters Ltd.
