Interactive web applications are a great thing so long as they serve a purpose that cannot be served any other way. It has been tempting in the past to create the most wonderful pieces of interactive artwork which show off what I can do from a technical point of view but do not necessarily demonstrate how the technology can be employed to provide online solutions in the real world.
I approach all interactive work in an object oriented manner and always try to create work that is both scalable and repeatable so that one interactive application that was for example an interactive version of an excercise from a school book would be built from base elements that could then be used by all the other excercises from the same or any other book.
My programming skills have helped enormously with the development of online interactive work and I am full conversant with database driven interactive media.

In colaboration with Lucid Graphics Ltd of Cromwell St, London, the Catie/Face Facts interactive website was created as an online study aid for KeyStage 2 school children learning sciences.
The site comprised of 9 interactive 'virtual experiments' that the children could execute whilst working in groups of three in the classroom. There's even one experiment in which the children can 'melt their mothers lipstick' without being told off!!
The site was developed in Macromedia Dreamweaver and Flash and took about 2 weeks from concept to completion.
Bill Fryer.com is a small marketing agency based in Warminster, Wiltshire, specialising in the development of cutting edge direct marketing techniques.
They wanted a simple but catchy online game which would reflect what they do and how they think. The solution was 'Crater Face' which is a 'shoot em up' style game, the object of which is to knock the heads off famous people by throwing envelopes representing direct mailshots at them. It was a lot of fun to produce and was incredibly successful and there is now talk of a sequel.
The game was produced using Macromedia Flash and Adobe Illustrator and took a week from concept to completion.
